What we’re looking for

  • An education as a 1st or 2nd Commercial Vehicle Technician is great. You also have a tachograph and/or MOT certification (or you are willing to obtain them)

  • You have experience with Volvo Trucks & Renault Trucks or other brands

  • Words that fit you: independent, stress-resistant & a true team player

  • We all have a flexible mindset, so running standby shifts, evening shifts, and a monthly Saturday shift are part of working at Van Dijk. These shifts are, of course, scheduled in good consultation

What your day looks like

  • 07:45

    Coffee first! Chat with some colleagues and then get to work!

  • 08:00

    The workshop manager gives you your first job, you grab your tablet containing the work order, you clock in, and drive the Renault Truck inside.

  • 08:15

    The truck shows an error code; it turns out to be an exhaust fault. You check the pipes and sensors. A pipe is blocked, so you clean it and reinstall it. You clear the error code, take a short test drive, and see to your satisfaction that the error message is gone. Now the customer can come and pick up the truck.

  • 10:00

    Time for a cup of coffee. The canteen is quite full and everyone is chatting with each other.

  • 10:15

    A maintenance service is your next job. You drain the oil and replace the filters. Once that's done, you refill the oil. While driving the truck in, you also noticed a broken marker light. You repair the wiring, and the truck is completely in order again.

  • 12:15

    During the friendly lunch, the conversation turns to the next staff party. Most colleagues have been working here for years and they have the best stories about parties from the past. You are very curious!

  • 13:00

    There is a Volvo truck inside that isn't running well. You first diagnose the problem: an injector is broken. After replacing it, you reassemble everything and tilt the cab back. After a test drive, you check everything one more time. Everything is fine now, so the Volvo can go back to the customer!

  • 15:00

    It's a clear day with plenty of sun. A perfect time to have a cup of coffee outside on the terrace!

  • 15:15

    Your next job is a roadside repair. The Renault won't start but still has power. Once there, you discover the starter motor is broken. You replace it on-site. The Renault starts again and the driver can continue their journey.

  • 17:15

    Your day is done. You tidy up your workspace and look back with satisfaction on today's jobs!
