What we’re looking for

  • A qualification as a 1st Commercial Vehicle Technician and several years of experience as an MOT1 inspector

  • You have the MOT1 and tachograph certification

  • You are eager to learn and want to stay up to date in the technical field

  • You are a hard worker who contributes to the development of the company in a positive way

  • We all have a flexible mindset, so running standby shifts and a monthly Saturday shift are part of working at Transportonderhoud. These shifts are, of course, scheduled in good consultation.

What your day looks like

  • 06:45

    Coffee first! Chat with some colleagues and then get to work!

  • 07:00

    The workshop manager goes over the planning with you, you grab your tablet which contains your work order, and then you can start an MOT inspection on a truck

  • 07:15

    You drive the truck into the MOT lane, you check the steering, suspension, and the bodywork.

  • 09:00

    Time for a cup of coffee and a sandwich in the canteen

  • 09:30

    You perform a brake test and pay particular attention to the braking deceleration of the service brake; these regulations have recently changed. During the lighting check, the brake lights turn out not to be working. You pass this on to the workshop manager so he can consult with the customer

  • 11:00

    A short coffee break in the workshop, a bit of banter, and then quickly back to your job. The customer has let us know they agree to the costs for repairing the lighting, so you get to work on it right away.

  • 12:30

    During the social lunch, there's plenty of talk about the new Van Dijk Vitality program; it's great that everyone is enthusiastic!

  • 13:00

    The MOT inspection is finished, the lighting is repaired, and you've signed off the truck. You drive the truck outside and let the workshop manager know it can be picked up. The next job is inspecting a Renault commercial vehicle.

  • 15:00

    Time for another coffee with the team. The MOT inspection is almost done; it's a commercial vehicle that was delivered four years ago by your branch in Utrecht. You have no comments or issues. You register the vehicle's completion with the RDW.

  • 17:00

    You'd like to learn more about electric trucks, so you discuss it with the workshop manager. He is enthusiastic and will look into which training can be scheduled for you. After that, you tidy up your workspace. Another day tomorrow!
